Veteran music director Anu Malik is certainly isn’t at the best phase of his musical career. His career graph is in an all time low and whatever music he is composing these days, he is unable to make a mark with them. Recently he was dropped from the soundtrack of ‘Mission Istaanbul’ and he holds it against director Apoorva Lakhia.
Anu was supposed to compose all six songs for the movie at the beginning but after he had completed the first two, he was told that further services from him would not be required. Hereon Apoorva got onboard Mika, Sameer Tandon and Chintaram Bhatt for the remaining four numbers.
Anu has not signed an official contract with the film’s producers Suniel Shetty, Shabbir Boxwalla, and Ekta Kapoor and hence has nothing to support his say. He tried arguing with the producers and the director, but they refused to relent.
Talking about the whole episode, Anu says, “I assumed that I would be the sole music director for the film and was really surprised when a couple of other guys were roped in. Apoorva is a friend; I have worked with him in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost and didn’t expect this from him. From now on, I will not do a film without signing an exclusive contract.”
