New Delhi (PTI): He is a trained classical musician but is not against the current trend of fusion and hip-hop music. Meet the 'Om Shanti Om' fame music director Shekhar Ravjiani, who is ready to experiment with western folk and 'desi music' in his upcoming movies.
"There is no problem in songs like 'Dard e Disco' or 'Dus Bahane' the younger generation likes it so music directors are producing it," says the young musician.
Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar who have musicals like 'OSO,' 'Jhankar beats,' 'Cash,' 'Salaam Namaste' and 'Tashan' in their kitty say their music is a combination of Indian classical and western rock.
"As far as we are concerned, we started this on an experiment basis and the idea clicked. But you will hear Indian classical music in our next release ' Tashan,' says Shekhar.
"Tashan is a unique kind of movie. We have compiled English and desi folk for this. It is a new concept for the Indian audience and I am sure they will enjoy it," he says while talking about 'Tashan,' a Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Akshay Kumar starrer.
Not many know that Shekhar was a participent of the famous musical show " Sa re ga ma pa" in his initial days. He has returned once again as a celebrity judge and according to him reality shows are a solid platform to explore the country's immense talent.
