The stars of Sukhwinder Singh, who had had a phenomenal musical innings last year with songs like ‘Dard-E-Disco’ and ‘Chak De! India’, is once again on a rise. Nevertheless, this able composer and singer prefer to be unmoved by all the glory and the name game.

On a recent interview to a popular tabloid the singer said, “I have been around for a decade but I have sung just about 100 songs. I am never in a hurry to sing too many songs.”

Sukhwinder Singh was of late in the arc lights for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ‘Halla Bol’ and Subhash Ghai’s ‘Black & White’. Though both the film were big box-office failures, nevertheless their music was appreciated by one and all. Sukhwinder who hitherto has tuned out for more than a dozen films was expected to hit the mark with ‘Halla Bol’ and ‘Black & White’. However, out of the two it was the music of Ghai’s film that stole the feat.

Sukhwinder considers Shah Rukh Khan as his lucky mascot. The singer who has had a successful association with the actor so far says that their ‘Dil Se’ may have bombed in India. But it was quite a rage in the overseas. The popular track ‘Chhaiya Chhaiya’ was such a big success that it continues to bring him laurels till date. In fact, Hollywood director Spike Lee was so awed by the songs, that he used it as the opening and closing credits of ‘Inside Man’.

Waxing eloquent on his lucky charm SRK, Sukhwinder says, “There are a lot of other people who make a song a hit. Even the presentation of the song counts. But I cannot forget the presence of SRK in ‘Chak De!’ or ‘Dard-e-Disco’. The songs I sing for other heroes are also hits. But somehow, the ones I sing for SRK become super hits.”
