Singer Babul Supriyo will soon be facing the camera and seen debuting in a film. He is making his acting debut in a Bengali film. The film is titled ‘Chandrer Bari’ and he will be playing the lead role there. Acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Tarun Mazumdar will direct the film. Babul was offered the role in the film when he went to record a song for Mazumdar in Kolkata. Though he has no formal training in acting, he will be going by Mazumdar’s help and vision.  Rituparna Sengupta one of the top Bengali actress who has worked in the Hindi film ‘Meri Patni Aur Who’ is paired opposite him. From now on it is learnt that Babul will also feature in his own music videos and is open to Bollywood offers if something meaty comes his way.

This is not the first time a singer has got interested in films. Babul follows his contemporaries like Himesh Reshammiya, Sonu Nigam, Palaash Sen who has been popular singers and have also tried their hands in acting.
