After legendary actresses Savitri and Vanisri, it is now the turn of Soundarya to play princess Draupadi in the much-hyped mythological Narthanasala. “Unlike regular commercial films where I can take some liberties I have to play the revered role to perfection,” disclosed Soundarya at the muhurat. She clearly understands that playing mythological roles is not a ‘cake-walk’ but she is determined to give her best shot in her maiden mythological role. “I have to live up to the high standards set by stalwarts like Savitri,” declared talented actress since she knows that her performance will be invariably compared to Savitri’s in 1962’s classic. Superstar Balakrishna will play the dual role of Arjuna and Kichaka besides helming the epic. Soundarya seems to be determined to do some ‘meaty roles’ in her second innings since after playing a researcher of snakes in Swethnaagu she has picked up a mythological role and a key role opposite Mohan Babu. What next? Lets wait and see.
