The reduced three-week delay for non-Kannada films is still meeting with tough opposition.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce had initially passed a 7 week delay for the release of non-Kannada film in the state in order 'to protect the Kannada film industry from competition'. But, their own film distributors weren't happy about it. Finally, it was decided to reduce the time from 7 weeks to three.
But, Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce is not happy about it. In spite of Supreme Court's judgment that the moratorium was illegal, non-Kannada film makers and distributors are not ready to release the film in Karnataka because they are worried of hooliganism in the theatres.
The Chamber has threatened to go to courts again over this issue.
During the three week's delay, the state is flooded with pirated VCDs of the film and it greatly affects the film's performance.
The issue is going to be raised at the Film Federation of India meeting soon.
