The hero Venu had lot of hopes pinned on this film.  He believed that the film was going to be different from his usual brash and confident young man roles that he always played.

But, 'Cheppavae Chirugali' has nosedived at the box office. The film is a Telugu remake of 'Unnai Ninaithu' starring Surya and Laila. The film was an average grosser in Tamil not because the film did well at the box office but because the film was made on a low budget. Vikraman, the director is clueless as to why the film bombed.

To act in this film, Venu had to lose many other offers!  Now he wonders why he bothered to.

Problem is with Vikraman and his extremely predictable screenplay and story- pick up a spineless young wimp of a man, let everybody walk all over him until the very end, bring in a song in which he surges ahead in his life and in the end make him forgive all his evil detractors who had insulted him in the first half. Even music for his films has become so predictable!

Its about time he did something really different with his story.
