Sridevi is likely to compete in the next Maharashtra state elections. Samajvadi Party is going to file her as their candidate.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, the leader of Samajvadi Party has expressed his desire that he would like Sridevi to contest the polls as their candidate. He has even chosen a constituency for her- the Nehru Nagar constituency that also includes some of the poorest slums of Maharashtra.

Sridevi is yet to give her consent to this but the party is hopeful because she hasn't denied it either.
 
Jayapradha, one of the leading actresses in the 80's too is a Samajvadi Party.
