A host of people were taken aback when it was announced a few days back that noted music director RP.Patnaik will be the hero for 'Nenu Vasanthi Lakshmi'. But the man maintains that the decision is taken with his full realization.

"I never thought twice about taking this role once it was offered to me by Mr.Atluri Poornachandrarao. I know that it is a chance of a lifetime for me. Since the character does not need glamour, I thought I would fit in the role very well. I even did the homework required for the film for the past two weeks", said RP during the music release of this film.

RP Patnaik also handles the music for this movie. There were director Teja and a lot of music directors like Chakri, DeviSri Prasad for the function. Each one had something to say about RP.

Chakri said, "I knew RP as we were friends even before I came to this industry. It's a bit of a surprise for me that he is the hero in this movie. I know that whatever he does, he does it with full commitment. Hence this acting assignment will be no different. Don't be surprised if he gets a Nandi award for his performance."

DeviSri Prasad was delighted. "It's a special day for us all. It's like one among our family is becoming a hero. RPgaru will join the illustrious list of people like SPBgaru and Kishore kumar who have been successful in films. I wish him all the best for this latest venture."

The film is a remake of a popular malayalam movie, where the hero is a blind man.
