But there was an actress named Kushala Devi, who had acted in many south Indian films of yesteryears. She had been going through a huge financial crisis lately. So bad was her condition that she wasn't even able to pay her house rent dues of more than Rs 15,000!

The Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, J Jayalalitha, who herself was an actress, invited Kushala Devi home and gave her a sum of Rs 15,250 to tide over the crisis. Feeling sorry for the dire straits that she was in, the CM also ordered a monthly pension of Rs 5000 to the former actress.
