Publisher-turned-maker Lankesh, who owns the leading Kannada weekly Lankesh Patrike, is dubbing his smashing Kannada hit Monalisa in Telugu. Besides retaining the title, he has added a separate comedy track with top comedians Brahmanandam and Kovai Sarala for the Telugu version to tickle the laughing bones of Telugu audience. He is quite confident about its prospects in Telugu since he has analysed few successful love stories in Telugu. “It’s a slick campus love story with a fresh presentation but will have enough comedy to satisfy the Telugu viewers,” stated Lankesh who signed Samir, of Uff Kya Mohabat Hai fame and Sada to play the young lovers.

Samir, who has few Hindi and Kannada films to his credit, is looking forward for a break in Telugu too. “It’s a cute love story,” informed the young lad while Telugu actress Sada described it as an interesting role. “We took a risk by spending lavishly on new faces but it paid off,” reasoned the young maker who promises a visual treat and informed that the film is going strong even after crossing the 100-day mark in Karnataka. “Besides the freshness, our USP was the skating talent of Samir so we even composed an action sequence on skates. Another hallmark was Sandip’s compositions,” explained the young turk who is planning a bilingual next to reach out to the Telugu audience. The film is slated for release in September and it remains to be how different it really is.
