There are funny instances in the southern film world where some actors have first names as Superstar, Yuva Samrat and a crazy hell of a lot. Though this is a way of people showing affection on their stars, there have been ridiculous names given to the stars.
One such was the name 'Sankranthi hero' held prestigiously by Krishna, that is, until our own 'Lakshmi Narasimha' snatched the title from, or so say close sources, courtesy five hits in six consecutive Sankranthi releases.
The only film that missed out is 'Vamsodharakudu' in 2000 when it lost to 'Kalisundam raa' and 'Annayya'. According to the trade reports the gross earnings of the films by Balakrishna touched almost 80 crores for the past six years. That's why the title now officially goes to the little krishna.
It seems funny to compare collections of yester year movies to the ones released now, with the hype, even without a good storyline. Whatever it is, that the industry is showing signs of revival is good news. Now, when an ailing person feels well, he is bound to feel great and we should excuse him for that.
What do you say?
