It is another matter that Roja was quite mysteriously found in favour for a TDP ticket leaving Doraisamy Raju fuming. The noted producer immediately filed in his nomination as a TDP rebel candidate for the election.

But on Friday, things took an ugly turn when the supporters of Doraisamy Raju targeted Roja and her husband RK Selvamani who were on their way to file their nominations for the Nagiri Assembly. Ten supporters of the film actress and two cameramen from the film industry were also injured. Fortunately Roja and her husband RK Selvamani escaped unhurt.

The incident occurred when Roja and rebel candidate Doraiswamy Raju, with a large number of supporters, were proceeding to file their papers at the same time in Nagari, about 45 km from here. Police had to fire nine rounds to disperse the crowd and save the helpless crew of Roja. For Roja who was vying for a ticket to the Nagiri Assembly this incident seems to be a shot in the arm for her dreams of entering into politics. She has gone on campaigning against the rebel candidate more than campaign against the main rivals, the Congress.

Insiders believe there was some external pressure applied on the Chief Minister to hand over the ticket to Roja. However Roja has ridiculed such claims and said that if the Chief was vulnerable to such kind of pressure, he would never have been able to rule one of the biggest states in the country.
