With the Sankranthi releases not turning up to match the industry expectations, all the eyes have comfortably shifted to the summer releases.
The summer releases are taken for films which are released from April to July. Lets have a look at some of the popular films that, hopefully, will release during this period. 'Gudumba Shankar' leads the pack with heavy expectations from audience being a Pawan Kalyan after a long gap, during which he even refused to admit media into his life. This film, according to the executive producer Nagababu, will hopefully release in July. Not far behind is 'Arjun', the Mahesh babu starrer which has recently compeleted its shooting. This movie has been making the news ever since it started because of the director-actor superhit 'Okkadu' last year and also due to the heavy spending on sets for the film. This film will release in the last week of April according to insiders. To know about the story of the film check yesterday's dailynews. Mahesh babu also features in 'Naani' which made ripples across the city of Hyderabad with its sizzling postures.
Then there is a Nagarjuna starrer 'Nenu Unnanu' which recently had a grand audio release. It comes as a mass film by Nagarjuna after a gap of almost 5 years. The release date is announced as April 8th. You must be wondering why 'Shankar Dada MBBS' is not mentioned here in the first place. Mainly due to the fact that there is a big question mark over its release before July and also being a remake from Hindi, there is this element of suspense that is lost about the film, especially 70% of the middle class in Andhra already having watched the original version.
NTRjr too is not languishing in the sidelines. The 'Andhrawala' flop doesn't seem to have affected the film badly. His 'Samba' is generating a lot of interest due to timely media coverage about his good intentions of selling the film at half price to distributors who suffered losses from 'Andhrawala'. Surely at this young age, he certainly knows how to attract attention. Must have learnt it early from his grandfather, the late NTR.
Then there are a couple of sleazy films like 'Aithe Enti' & 'Andaru Dongale Dorikithe' which will attract male audiences to the theatre in huge numbers.
It is too hard to pick the winner from this group, but what is certain is that the audience will have a range to pick from during the summer holidays.
