Have you ever wondered why Rajini really dropped 'Jakkubhai' and is not himself producing 'Chandramukhi'? 

The official reason behind dropping 'Jakkubhai' was that they weren't able to come to an understanding about the film's story. But, it seems a major political party in Tamilnadu who had opposed his previous film 'Baba', had warned that if he produced another film, they would see to it that the film never hits the theatres. 

Rajinikanth already was tired of the problems that they created. So, he eventually dropped the film. Then, he began looking for a new story and a new producer to make the film. He sought the advice of Dr Rajkumar, his 'guru'. On his advice, he approached Shivaji Productions, the film production company owned by late Shivaji Ganeshan. Now, Shivaji's son Prabhu and Ramkumar are producing the film on the banner and Rajini is only acting in it. 

If the political party was going to oppose the film, they would be fighting with Shivaji Ganeshan's family, which has lot of respect and goodwill in Tamilnadu. So, the party would think twice about clashing with the film.
