The film financiers, who kept silent so far, now started to make their voice heard. Till recently only small budget films are giving them headache.
But the situation changed from bad to worse. Because now-a-days, even big banner films are turning out be bigger problems for financiers.
Ever green films V.A.Durai, who availed a very big loan from financiers, for his film Gajendra, tried to 'swollow' the amount. In the end, the financier had to approach court to get his money back.
Even the No1 producer of Tamil film Industry A.M.Rathnam is affected by finance problem. The Hindi versions of 'Mudhalvan' and 'Boys', have bombed at the box office and inflicted great financic loss for the producer. Because of that, he struggled very much to release his latest venture '7G Rainbow Colony'.
Because of these happenings, the film financiers have learned lessons and have become more wiser now. They have started to put pressure on producers, whose movies are supposed to be released in coming Diwali. They have decided that, here after they will render financial assistance only after 25% of the movie is completed. This decision of Financiers has sent shock waves to all producers. Producers are now trying to think of alternative ways to raise money.
There are many movies which could not be released in coming Diwali due to finance problems 'Jai Surya', Dreams, Thullal, 'Aei' to name a few. More films may be added to this list, because of financier's decisions.
It is not just VCD piracy that plagues Tamil film Industry.
