For some time now, horror films have almost vanished from Tamil cinema. But, it looks as if it is on a comeback. Recently, the Hindi super hit 'Bhoot' was remade by Thyagarajan as 'Shock'. The film did reasonably well.
This is followed by the Sneha-starrer 'Adhu'. Ramesh Kannan is directing the film. The film's trailer was released recently at a function. Director Bharatiraaja was a special guest at the event. He had wished the film twice the success of 'Sigappu Rojaakal'.
While other directors keep themselves confined to romance and action, what had inspired Ramesh Kannan to get into horror? We asked him.
He said, "Your question has the answer within in. I wanted to do something different from the usual romance and action films. That's how 'Adhu' happened."
The film has a village named Vijayanagaram. Where exactly is it?
There is no such place. I was looking for a name that was very familiar to the audience. I wanted it to be a name that somehow suited a horror film. We decided that Vijayanagaram was fine. That also happened to be the name of King Krishnadevaraya's capital city. After naming the factious city, we were looking for a place to shoot the film. Finally we decided to shoot it at Humpy, Karnataka.
The film has a byline 'Adhu- Unnai Vidaathu'. Does it mean that the film has a sequel?
Bharatiraaja had already wished that the film will be two times 'Sigappu Rojaakal'. If the film does really well, then, I intend to make his words come true.
