The Ramya Krishnan starrer 'Kanavu Meipada Vendum' is representing India at an international Film Festival.

'Kanavu Meipada Vendum' was released at the beginning of the year. Ramesh S Arunachalam and Rama Arunachalam produced the film for Krithika Foundation. The film is based on the Devadasi system.

Ramya Krishnan starred as a Devadasi and has even sung a song in the film 'Thaazamboove vaada'. Music director Mahesh, who is now no more, had composed music for the film. CJ Rajkumar was the cinematographer.

The film was shot as naturally as possible. Janaki Vishwanathan wrote the story, screenplay and directed it.  She had already directed another National award winner, 'Kutti'. This non-commercial film is going to participate in the International film festival.

The festival begins on the 30th of November and goes on till the 12th of December at Cairo, the Egyptian capital. This is the only Tamil film chosen for the festival. The film's director Janaki Vishwanathan is going to participate in the festival.
