When films like 'Dhool', 'Thirumalai' and 'Perazagan' happened one after the other, everybody thought that Jyothika is going to rule the Tamil film industry. But she abruptly vanished.

The reason for her disappearance had a lot to do with the ban enforced on her by the Producers' association after she refused to give callsheets for 'Manikanda'. Now the ban has been removed.

She was first approached for 'Thirupachi' with Vijay. She refused. Trisha is now acting in the film.
 
They say that she had refused to act in 'Vasoolraja MBBS' too.

Why is she refusing all these films?
 
It is believed that Jyothika and Surya have planned to get married to each other as soon as Surya's younger sister gets married. Since the sister's wedding is getting delayed for various reasons, it now looks as if Jyothika-Surya might break their resolve. That is the reason behind her refusal to accept new films.
 
Presently, Jyothika is acting with Surya in 'Mayavi'. Even in films, Surya is her sole hero these days!
