Sometimes, reality is far more unbelievable than films. Vilasini, the producer and actress of ‘Karagaatakari’ has one such tale.

She had acted as the heroine with Pandiyarajan in his film ‘Nalla Manasukaaran’. The film flopped. She had then acted in ‘Aandipatti Arasampatti’ and ‘Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi’. They had flopped too.

That was when she fell in the trap of a director. By the time she realized it and came out of it, the police had barged in and her name was tarnished. She was framed for prostitution.

But, she didn’t wear black purdah and step away from the industry. She was back! Bharatikannan, who specialized in making devotional films, told her the story of ‘Karagaatakari’.

Vilasini was so impressed by the story that she immediately decided to produce it herself. The film’s story is about a folk dancer who avenges the crime committed on her by killing all those who were involved in it. The first half of the story is a bit too much like her real life tale.

It is indeed a record for an actress who had been arrested for prostitution to come out of it and go ahead with producing a film. Vilasini is a heroine in real life.
