Debutant director Thiru is quite happy and content. The reason – he has accomplished what many directors could never have dreamed of. He has given glam babe Namitha a “completely de-glam and homely look” in his movie Azhagana Ponnudhaan. This is surely, as the director says, “never-seen-before”. “I wrote the script with Namitha in my mind. She plays a homely girl and it was a big challenge to see to it that she adapted to the script,” says Thiru.

So, will there be no dare bare act by Namitha? “No,” he says, “You’ll find a different Namitha — one who comes wrapped in a sari throughout the film.”

But die-hard fans of the busty babe need not worry. “There is a dream sequence in which Namitha wears glamorous clothes. They aren’t revealing, but she looks cute in those dresses,” adds Thiru.

So, what’s the story? “The script has been narrated from the point of view of a teenager, who falls in love with a woman (played by Namitha) elder to him. But, Namitha is the backbone of the script,” reveals Thiru, “I wrote the script based on the stories I’ve heard and events which I have witnessed.”

Wasn’t Namitha apprehensive about doing such a bold script? “Initially, she was, but after hearing the entire story, she was very confident about her character. Her role has few dialogues and scores mostly with her facial expressions,” gushes Thiru.
