With just two films, this young man has managed to win a place in the hearts of Tamil audience. He is presently busy with films like ‘Rascal’ and ‘Mazhai’. Like other heroes, he too has fan clubs all over the state. "I had worked in only two films until now but since they did very well, I have fan clubs in all the main cities of the state. I intend to continue with my social work as I grow," he said.
Why is ‘Jayam’ Ravi so obsessed with remaking? "It is difficult to make a hit film. As a producer, it was my dad who had made the decision. My next film is going to be an original Tamil film. My elder brother is going to direct it," he continued.
His father, Editor Mohan, had produced these two films. But Ravi is not going to star in the third film. The young actor didn’t have enough call sheets to spare for his father! "I didn’t say that I had no call sheets. When I was working in ‘Jayam’, I had signed up ‘Rascal’. When I was working in ‘M Kumaran’, I was booked for ‘Mazhai’. I’m busy with both these films. Dad wanted to start the film immediately. That was why I was not able to do the film."
There were rumors that Rajini was going to act in Editor Mohan’s new film. When asked, Ravi declined to comment because it wasn’t right for the children to interfere with the father’s work.
Like all other Tamil actors, he too has an eye on the Superstar title. "The real superstar is the one who attracts the crowds to the theatres. I’m happy that people consider me as a contender."
Do you consider actors like Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Dhanush and Simbu to be your competitors?
"All these people had come to the film industry before I did. But I sure would like to compete with them. I’m trying to develop my talents."
‘Rascal’ and ‘Mazhai’ are the two films that Ravi is presently working in. the name of ‘Rascal’ is likely to be changed because it is in English.
"Sadha is very brilliant. She wouldn’t talk unnecessarily to anybody. Asin is full of life," he said about his former heroines. Even after two hit films, he still has stayed away from gossips. Any love stories?
"Love is like an accident. You never know when it occurs. But when it does, I will gladly accept it," he said.
