Fazil, the director of 'Manichitrathaaz' says he was caught unawares when he heard that Rajini was interested in his film's remake!

Director Fazil says that he himself came to know about it only when he read the news in papers. 

"Prabhu had already bought the remake rights in Tamil for 'Manichitrathaaz' on behalf of Shivaji Productions. He told me that he was interested in acting in the film. There must have been some drastic change in the plan. I didn't know that Rajini was interested in doing the project." 

P Vasu had remade the film in Kannada and it did very well. Vishnuvardhan had played the lead role. Suresh Gopi's character was reduced a lot and Mohanlal's character was developed further in the Kannada version. 

"Rajini is going to play the lead role in Tamil. That will mean a lot of changes in the story. I'm very curious to see the film myself!" he said. 

We are too, especially after hearing that Prabhu was interested in playing the lead role!
