Suresh Gopi has played usual roles in a number of films so far. But now he is keen to try his hands in doing roles that would bring to forth his mettle in quality acting. He will now be acting in a couple of offbeat films. He is doing National award winner director Rajeev Nath's Malayalam film ‘Janani’. The film will be a take on the world classic Casablanca, titled in Malayalam as ‘Ezhaam Mudra’. Suresh Gopi will play the role of a naval doctor in the film. Rajeev Nath plans to recreate the magic with the Tamil Tigers as the backdrop. Mandira Bedi is being considered to enact the immortalized role of Ingrid Bergman in the original.

Suresh Gopi will also be doing another film based on Shakespeare's ‘Macbeth’. This is one of the ventures for him lined up for next year. There is another film directed by Lenin Rajendran based on the life of Raja Ravi Varma, one of the greatest painters in the history of the Indian Art. The film will begin next month and will complete by the year-end.

With such meaty and substantial role in his kitty, Suresh Gopi says it will be a challenge for him to play such diverse roles. Moving away from the action roles that he usually plays, Suresh Gopi will bring forth his wide spectrum of acting skills.
