Rahul Bose is all set to call the shots for his second directorial venture now. The suave actor who made his directorial debut way back in 2001 with ‘Everybody Says I’m Fine’ is all primed up for his new enterprise, interestingly an adaptation of Mohsin Hamid’s novel ‘Moth Smoke’.
The actor who had been waiting to get the right script hitherto found Hamid’s novel as the best bet. “I had to get the filming rights of Hamid’s novel at any cost,” is what passionate Rahul has to say about his new escapade.
So how much did the actor shell out for claiming the rights? Well, we believe its something around Rs 8 lakh. However, Rahul is quite discreet about the deal. “Well, I’m not going to talk about the exact amount. But yes, it’s an eight-year old novel. The happy part is that I am the sole copyright owner of filming rights, not the producers of my film,” is what the actor has to say.
Rahul is yet to hook his favorite stars for the film that goes on floors this July. To be partly shot in Pakistan, this film is likely to have some noted actors from the industry.
Nevertheless there is a slight hitch. “Which star will give me three months at a stretch and at such a short notice? And there’s an explicit love scene. Who would want to make love on screen?” is what the apprehensive Rahul burps out.
So won’t Rahul feature in this film. “It was okay to cast myself in a three-day role in ‘Everybody Says I’m Fine’. But I won’t be able to direct myself in this story. It’s much too complicated,” believes Rahul. That’s what is called direction ke side effects, Rahul!
