Meera Nair was initially planning to make a film with Rani Mukherjee in the lead. But, Rani has been removed now.

Konkona Sen, who won the National award for 'Mr and Mrs Iyer', now replaces Rani Mukherjee in the new film that is going to be based on Jhumpa Lahiris book. Initially, Rani Mukherjee was considered for the role because Meera Nair was very much impressed with her performance as the battered wife in 'Yuva'.

It now looks as if Meera Nair is more impressed by Konkona Sen. Rani was unable to act in the film because she wasn't able to set aside call sheets for the film.

Rani is caught up with another problem these days- gossips about a 'relationship' with sitting MP and actor Govinda.  There are talks that the two are living together these days. Rani Mukherjee has strongly denied these rumors.
