Mumbai, Sep 28 (PTI) Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, who has lent her mellifluous voice to almost all great actresses of the Indian film world, turned 75 on Tuesday.

Lata has sung for Madhubala to Madhuri and her sweet voice today stands immortalised through its appeal.

Born in 1929 in the family of doyen Marathi Natyasangeet, Dinnanth Mangeshkar, Lata was groomed by Ustad Aman Ali and then by Ustad Amanath Khan and PL Tulsidas Sharma.

Inspired by Noorjehan and KL Saigal, Lata went on to carve a niche for herself.

Be it unforgettable Aayega Aayega Aanewala or famous Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon, her songs like Lag Ja Gale, Raina Beeti Jaye have set her class apart.

She was awarded the Padmabhushan  way back in 1969 and the Dadasaheb Phalke in 1989.
