The success of the Salman Khan- Akshay Kumar- Priyanka Chopra starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karoge is sweeter for its writer Anees Bazmi. It's the 50th script of his career, you see, and the fact that his teaming up with director David Dhawan has once again reaped at the box office makes him beam some more. Script of Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, did we say? Now film Mein Woh Kis Chidiyan Ka Naam Tha, you may as well ask. He says, "I do admit that some of my written work didn't find place in the film. Whenever I have written films especially a comedy it hasn't always been just fun and humour, I have always combined it with an emotional undertone. Even in Mujhse.. I had written the script in such a way that there was a strong emotional scene after every five scenes of comedy that would tug at your heart-string but finally those scenes were not there in the film. "I'm not complaining because as a writer my job ends after submitting the script. Besides, the film is a big success though I think it could have been bigger!"

The writer-director duo of Bazmi and Dhawan have given hits like Aankhen, Shola Aur Shabnam, Swarg, Bol Radha Bol to name a few and almost all have been good news at the box-office. He says, "Yes some of my best work has been with David and I think when a film has some sensitivity and a strong emotional quotient to it, viewers like it more. As a writer, director enough to translate his work in the screen and a director's job too is tough considering he has to execute it with the help of a solid team. Only when everything falls into place does the film have a chance to do well," he says, adding "But when you direct your own script you need not please anybody you know how to treat it!"

Interestingly, Bazmi was supposed to direct this film for producer Nitin Manmohan two years ago but it didn't work out then. "Later Sajid Nadiadwala who produced Mujhse Shaadi Karoge told me to give the script to him. I still remember when he read it he said, "it's such a good script that isme director ki zaroorat hi nahin, even if I give it to a cameraman he would do the job!"

Currently, Bazmi is all exicted about his next film Benaam, which he's writing and directing. It stars Ajay Devgan, Bhoomika Chawla and Sameer Reddy. The film has already consumed enough newsprints what with Priyanka Chopra having been replaced by Sameer. "One thing I can't do is plan thing, I have left that to god. So I think Sameer was destined to be inmy film," says Bazmi, who has just four days of shooting left of Boney Kapoor's No Entry.

Ajay Devgan had played his first negative character in Bazmi's last directorial venture Deewangee. So is Benaam going to see him in yet another different light? "Well, yes, it's always a challenge to work with an actor of Ajay's caliber. In Benaam, he plays a usual guy but his character has three names: Shakhar, Michael and Amar Kumar," he says refusing to say anything further. In fact Bazmi may even change the title of the film "as the people who I work with and those who I think are my well wishers feel it's a thanda title." Well whatever be the title, let's hope the film doesn't meet with a thanda response.
