Well-known Carnatic vocalists Bombay Jayshree and T M Krishna rendered works made immortal by Carnatic music legends like Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, M S Subulakshmi and Araikudi Ramanuja Iyengar.
They put up an enchanting show at a business creativity workshop for corporates, attended by companies like Reliance, Essar, Hutch, Hindustan Petroleum and Shoppers Stop among others.
"I'd seen the coffee table book Voices Within brought out by Bombay Jayshree and T M Krishna and was impressed. I also saw many things in common with the corporate world like the creative pursuit. We are hoping music will help bring out the creative best," said R Sridhar, Workshop Organiser.
The artistes also echoed similar sentiments.
"The ability to think out of the box and constantly innovate keeps the artiste and his art alive. People in the corporate world will vouch that these are values that are important there too," said T M Krishna, Classical Vocalist.carnatic
The participants included managers and senior executives of companies.
"This has been brilliant. A very different approach from the mundane workshops," said Vishwanath Iyer, Head, R Care.
"I am from North India and don't understand any Carnatic music. But this has been so good till now that my expectations are very high," said Pooja Saxena, Manager, Shopper's Stop.
Business and art combined, quite clearly, makes for an interesting combination.
