The film primarily deals with three characters - Akshay Kumar who is a crime reporter, Mr. Joshi a retired accountant dealing with his ungrateful son and Lambodar. All three of them are friends. They share their plight and also finds solace in each others company. To tackle their problems they play a harmless prank.

But they are not aware what they are getting into. The prank costs them heavy and one thing leads to another. Soon the incident takes a big shape and becomes news. These three put their new found fame to good use. And this gives way to a series of incidents to follow. They go to high levels of controversy and become the talk of the nation. They cannot control what is happening to them and ultimately become the mute spectators to their newly acquired fame. The twist lies in the fact that no one are aware of their identity.
