‘Alibaba’ stars director Vishnu Vardhan's brother Krishna and Prakashraj. The film has music scored by Vidyasagar.
In the high-pitched humming of Sve with rendition by Ranjith begins the first track of the album ‘Krishna Krishna’. Ranjith voice is in sync with the rhythm. The song is reminiscent of the disco tracks of the 80s. The track is about the lead character of the same name in the film but the lyrics of Pa Vijay sounds like praising the deity Krishna. The melody isn’t much captivating but it’s the lyrics of the track that steals the show.
‘Puthiya Paravai Onru’ is high on beats and rhythm. The romantic track is rendered by Sujatha and Ranjith. The music is reminiscent to that of the 90s. The beats pervade the song but it’s the flute that runs along with the vocals. The mood of the tracks shifts from romance and an emotion. Jeyantha’s words are also captivating.
Jassi Gift in his nasal tone begins ‘Are Are Sambo’. The track is high on intensity. Though the tune is an oft heard one it’s the pulsating rhythm that will make you dance along with. The beats of the song makes it an interesting hear. Pa Vijay's lyrics add to the fervour.
With Arabic style of music arrive ‘Nenjil Athadi’. This graceful and sensuous song comes apt in the voice of Sve. For this item track Jeyantha's lyrics makes for perfection. Vidyasagar also adds his vocals to the track. Though it rides on familiar melody yet chances are that it will be a frequent number played in the clubs.
Rajeswari and Karthik team up for a melodic and romantic song ‘Neenda Mounam’ which has lyrics by Yugabharathy. There is a classical base to t he song. It comes as a sweet and a pleasant track for the ears.
Vidyasagar knows the nerve of the music and he delivers accordingly for a film. For this soundtrack as well he has packed something for everyone. The music isn’t of any high standards but it makes for a good hearing.
