Interview : Sindhu Menon wants to become unforgettable

Sindhu Menon is enjoying the films she is doing, be apart from the critical appraisal she is fetching for her performance, they are also shining like medals on her career graph. This is her second innings you can say, with a steep rise and fall in the first half to rise back again now. With her recent Telugu silver screen hit Krishnavamsi’s ‘Chandamama’, it is evident that Sindhu has arrived. The look from not-much-glamorous Mahalakshmi of ‘Badrachalam’ has changes and what we see now is an attractive appearance.

Excerpts from an Interview:

You are again bagging the top slot with the kinds of films that you’re doing?

I am not here to play the heroine alone. I die for roles which make me unforgettable. I’m also not the heroine in VN Aditya’s underproduction movie Rainbow. But the role has much more significance for the audiences. Of all my roles in all of my films in South Indian languages, this particular one in Rainbow makes me proud.

How has it been working for VN Aditya’s Rainbow?

It’s has been an amazing experience. I knew the success of Krishnavamsi’s Chandamama would bring me good offers. It was just then that I got a call from Hyderabad to join VN Aditya’s Rainbow team. He is so cool all the time. Rainbow is a sensitive and sweet at the same moment being also poetic. The team was very nice, they helped me with my expressions, dances and what not. I loved the music of the film and akin to a rainbow, they are pleasing.

Would you like to say something about VN Aditya’s style of working?

VN Aditya is a very good human being. He makes things very comfortable and the atmosphere very calm. His work holds his concentration. He has lots of patience but he is very sensitive. I took several takes for some scenes but he never got irritated.

What is your character in the film?

It is the kind of role that audience will be surprised to see me in. The characterisation has been dealt with utmost care. I was at liberty to exhibit my expressions at will.  The director gave me two roles and asked me to choose the best out of it. It is something that will always stay with the audience. I inspire, I demand sympathy, I love and love to be loved. The seven colours of the rainbow are reflected in my role.

Why have you preferred to play a village girl in your seven-year stint with Tollywood?

It was not something that I chose. It was the characters and I don’t even think that the audience would watch to mind if at last they are entertained. After a big gap my career is revived again by Chandamama. Telugu cinema has lots of scope and I would love to do films here. I would play roles that would make me permanent in the hearts of the audiences. I wouldn’t play characters that they would forget easily. The audience remember me irrespective of my shortcomings.  Badrachalam to Chandamama and now Rainbow, I’ve given my 100 percent to the audience. I’m concentrating on acting now as a full-fledged profession but formerly I was juggling between studies and entertainment.

What’s the status of RP Patnaik’s Andamaina Manasulo?

The script work got extended and I got busy with my exams. So I’m no more a part of it.

Are you open to doing glamour roles?

So far I have never done anything vulgar onscreen. If it means mere skin show in the name of glamour, certainly I can’t do it.
