One knows James Vasanthan as a popular television actor. But this film also discovers that he is a talented musician. Debutant director Sasikumar gives him the responsibility to shoulder the music of the film. As the film is set in the 80s, James Vasanthan has the task of bringing some retro classic. The good thing is that he has managed to deliver five amazing songs that will leave a lasting impact.

The songs stand out for the good use of rhythm, melody, catchy feel and peppy beats. One hear and you are almost certain that the tracks are made for the charts.  The introduction of new voices in the songs makes for a refreshing and novel experience.

Something catchy and classy is in store for you in the first track ‘Kangal Irandaal’. Thamarai’s lyrics are an asset for the track. Belly Raj and Deepa Miriam lends their voice for the number. A good mix of classical raaga and western interludes can be heard.

A one of its kind rural track is ‘Madura Kulunga’. Recreating the ambience of a temple festival, it’s the ethnic beats that catches your ears. Velmurugan, Suchitra, Madurai Banumathi and chorus render this enthusiastic track. Yughabarathy brings to life the festival with the words.

A beautiful and soft melodic number is ‘Kadhal Siluvaiyil’ in the voice of Shankar Mahadevan. Yugabharathy depicts they condition of a person after falling in love. Though the vocals dominate the proceedings the use of wind instruments is commendable.

The theme music is a mix of instruments from east and west. It’s a pacy musical number that is enjoyable.

‘Theneeril Snehitham’ in the voice of Benny Dayal has peppy beats and English rap. The music re-establishes the culture prevalent in west in 1980s. It’s another pacy number with a good rhythm.

James Vasanthan delivers creditable stuff in his first outing itself.  The music of the album stands out!
