Another madcap is in the making. ‘Don Muthuswami’ joins the list of mindless comedy but with the certainty that it will make you come out laughing from the theatres. Mithun Chakravarthy is in the title role of Don Muthuswami in the film.
The story dates back to the early 70s when Bombay was dominated by smugglers and gangsters. Don was one of them. While paying the last respect to his dying father, he gets a slap from him for being on the wrong path and bringing shame to the family. His father expects him to leave the dirty ways and make a better living. Complying to his father’s wish, Don Muthuswami aspires to come clean and lead a gentleman life. This is how the comedy track in the film comes into fore.
Muthuswami orders his henchmen to work for him but not as gangsters but as social workers. As he is a South Indian not having adequate language skills he hires the service of a Hindi/Urdu teacher Jaikishen (Mohit Raina) to skill himself. But his life goes for a toss when matters relating to his daughter Sanjana’s (Hrishita Bhatt) marriage comes up. Muthu wants to marry her off to his good friend gangster’s son Pradhan. Sanjana to avoid the marriage says that she is pregnant. Muthu’s general manager Preetam (Rohit Roy) loves her and has been stealing on him to make himself rich. Here Ranjana (Anusmriti) confesses to Muthu about her love for Preetam and had lied to him about being Muthu’s daughter. Sanjana and Jaikishen fall in love and want to get married.
Twist and turn, chaos and confusion makes this mindless comedy an enjoyable ride.
