This Diwali seems to be a tame affair with no big releases lined up, thanks to the plunging fortunes of the glamour industry. With Ramzan at the doorstep, the latest release, Jeena Sirf Merre Liye, too, is running against time to prove its credentials. A risky equation, in any case.

The script is nothing great to rave about. The regular adapted and re-adapted storylines from various films, remixed again to bring forth to you a not-so-worth product. You tend to sharpen your memory, asking yourself - Where have I seen that before?

The hit pair of Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai is back, where the boy chased the girl. But here, the girl chases the boy. To go in detail, there's Pooja aka Pinky (Kareena Kapoor) and Karan (Tusshar Kapoor), who are childhood buddies. On separation, Pooja gifts Karan a watch to pass his time, listening to its tune.

Years pass by, as the orphaned Karan is adopted by a gentle soul, Mr Malhotra (Kader Khan). On the other hand, Pinky returns from abroad to his nagging father (Vijayendra Ghatge) who has a penchant of living life kingsize. But Pinky is in no mood to enjoy his father's empire. She is just focused on searching for her loverboy, be it going to Ooty to trace him or even publishing her love story in a magazine. When finally she locates him, she is taken aback on knowing that there's also another girl (debutante Mallika) in the picture. No prizes for guessing what happens in the end.

The film falters on two crucial counts. First, the lousy script, with nothing new to offer. And second, on technical grounds. The director seems to be taking viewers for a ride, through a make-believe world. Kareena is shown going from Mumbai to Ooty, in a train on foreign shores. Quite a few blunders in the script too, add to the negative points. On the upside, bright cinematography pleases you visually. Music by Nadeem-Shravan rises above average but is not placed well.

Of the cast, Tusshar seems more balanced now, after his last debacle, Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa. As for Kareena, she is dead gorgeous. You fail to get your eyes off her, whenever she comes onscreen.
