The team of K Raghavendra Rao, JK Bharavi and Keeravani after 'Annamayya’ and ‘Sri Ramadasu' return back now with ‘Pandurangadu’. These films have been musical hits and this makes one look forward to the music of this film as well. Raghavendra Rao eyes the NT Rama Rao, 'Panduranga Mahatmyam' classic and makes this film with Balakrishna.
The musical reins of the film has been handed over to Keeravani. The album is a mix of devotional, commercial and romantic songs. Out of the 12 tracks three are slokas.
Pranavi in her mellifluous voice sings the sloka ‘Aadauv Devakidevi’. The devotion in her voice makes the hearing of the track all the more enchanting.
‘Govindude Koka Chutti’ sounds like a poem rendered on the occasion of Gokulashtami. The words by Sri Vedavyas makes for a good hearing. The tune remains in folk style. Rendered by Madhu Balakrishnan, Sunita and MM Keeravani, this has a oldies feeling to it.
At the initial ‘Hey Krishna Mukunda’ sounds like a remix but soon changes gear and takes a different route in the voice of SP Balasubrahmanyam and Hima Bindhu. The songs impresses individually other than an old classic with the same name. Lyricis are by Suddala Ashok Teja.
Shankar Mahadevan renders the sloka ‘Sahasra Sheersha’. Lyrics comes from Sri Vedavyas.
‘Yemani Adaganu’ begins well but the later portions loses its lyrical value. SP Balasubrahmanyam, Malavika and Sowmya render the track. Lyricis are by Sri Vedavyas.
Comes a rather commercial number as ‘Sri Sri Sri Rajadhi Raja’. Lyricis are by Sri Vedavyas. It is a melodic number and the Indian instrument adds to its feel.
S.P. Balasubrahmanyam renders the popular bhajan ‘Govinda Krishna Jai’. Veturi writes the words on the nature of Lord Krishna.
‘Matrudevobhava’ is rendered by SP Balasubrahmanyam and he does complete justice with the number that has been sung in a different style altogether. Suddala Ashok Teja pens some different kind of words for the song.
