Super Good Films and Dr Rajasekhar come together once again after 'Simharasi' for 'Gorintaku'. This film is a remake of a successful Kannada film 'Anna Thangi' and is a thorough entertainer. Meera Jasmine plays the sister in the film which is directed by VR Pratap. The story is of Ashok (Rajasekhar) and Lakshmi (Meera Jasmine) who are brother and sisters. Their parents Sarvarayudu (Rajasekhar) and (Sujitha) die when Lakshmi was young. Lakshmi falls in love with Aakash (Aakash), but would only marry him after the blessings and acceptance of her brother Ashok who marry her to the boy. He also marries Nandini (Arthi Agarwal) on the same dais. Aakash and Lakshmi along with Aakash's cousins and sisters-in-law live together and are happy. Lakshmi turns the mother of two daughters and a son. But Nandini suffers abortion due to the Kantham who claims to be her aunt. Nandini can no more become a mother and as Ashok turns childless, Aakash and Lakshmi bring their children to him. But in the meantime Aakash’s cousins cheat him and trick the entire property. Aakash gets jailed in a cheque bounce case. Lakshmi and her children are in helpless state. Kantham advises Nandini to throw Lakshmi out of house and warns her not to try to meet her brother. Lakshmi in desperation commits suicide with her children. When Ashok hears this he too dies.
Rajasekhar does justice in the role of a brother and his performance will impress the family and women audiences. Saikumar's dialogues are apt to suit his body language. Meera Jasmine also does a noteworthy job. She glides with ease through different shades of her character – as an innocent girl, a trickster, a loveable sister, a wife, a mother. Her performance in the climax is worth watching. Arthi Agarwal doesn’t get much scope other than the climax Chandramohan, Sivaji Raja, Surya, Brahmaji, Raviprakash, Hema, Surekhavani and others are apt in their roles.
Camera work by Akhilan is okay. Nandamuri Hari’s editing is apt. Music by SA Rajkumar is average. The background score and re-recording is not up to mark. However it’s the subject that is a setback in the film which makes the film watchable only for families. The director could only weave the story on the brother-sister sentiment. Also the screenplay appears old fashioned.
Without any strong commercial base it will only depend on the family audiences and would hardly find any other taker.
