Shy and suave Siddique is counted amongst the top-notch southern director, who is responsible for doling out eleven hits over a career span of more than two decades. Siddique who holds high reputation in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu as a hit director is all set to come out with his next venture ‘Sadhu Mirandal’. In this exclusive interview with the nifty talent, we find out more on his career, films and ‘Sadhu Mirandal’.
Here are the excerpts:
It’s seen that you usually go for breaks before coming up with your next film? Why so?
Within my career span of nearly 22 years, I’ve just come up with nearly a dozen flicks whereas any other director would have completed his 50th film by now. Actually, I believe that in order to give out a hit film, you need to weigh its pros and cons minutely before giving it a shot. And this involves time.
It’s amazing to see that of all the films you have made so far have fetched you a cent percent success. How did you manage that?
As I’ve already said, I weigh my script time and again before calling the shots. A good script is the secret behind my success.
Your next film is Sadhu Mirandal. Tell us something about it.
Sadhu Mirandal is basically a thriller with a reasonable serving of humor, sentiments and emotions intertwined into it. It’s a complete entertainer that holds a lot of attraction for today’s youth. For now, that’s all I can brief you on.
Prassana plays the lead in this film. What prompted you to pick on Prasanna for the lead role?
To be frank, I was looking for an actor who’d compliment the title of the film perfectly. And who better but Prassana for the lead role. Prassanna looks like a hermit and has no image issues whatsoever. I couldn’t have gone for any larger than life hero for the role. That would be inept. Characterization is very important to me since it’s the thing that pushes my film towards credibility. I had to go with Prassana since he completely fitted the bill.
And how would you justify your reason behind casting Kavya Madhavan for the other lead?
Kavya plays the role of a television anchor in the film, who poses as a moral support for the actor. In a way, she is the one who helps him brave a niggling concern. Kavya is a substantial actress and was the perfect pick for the role. I hardly go wrong with my characters you see.
Your films are always generous when it comes to comedy. To what extent did you incorporate comedy in your new film?
This film is a thriller caper but nevertheless it has its light moments too. I have etched in comic moments between the lead pair as well as brought in M.S Bhaskar, Karnas, Vyapuri and the villains Abbas, and Kotta Srinivasa Rao to do some light scenes as well. So like all other films, this film too has its moments of wit and humor.
Before we end the conversation, is there anything else you would like to say about the film?
Sadhu Mirandal is one medley of suspense, adventure and humor that will drive you crazy. Also the film has some great music tuned out by Deepak Dev. This film is likely to be a big rage amongst the youth and can prove to be a turning point in Prassana’s career as well.
