Mollywood relies on the few aged super stars as there is dearth of talented youngsters in the industry. 'Anthiponvettam' brings some new talent to the fore, and how well they fare let’s find out. To start with the script of the film is absurd. Also stars Arun and Saiju Kurup do little to save the film with their terrible acting. Arun holds same expression throughout the film apart for some scenes where he smiles. Saiju Kurup tries hard to emote but has a bad timing all through. Also body fails to make him the impressive character that the script demands. Also their onscreen chemistry is terrible.
Jeevan and Nidhin are two software professionals working at Bangalore. They are very thick friends in spite of their different characters. Nithin is half Malayalee-half Gujrati, he drinks, fights and talks shit. Jeevan is mature and manages to handle himself fine. Both the friends head for their ancestral home at Vattathara village and take a long holiday from the deadline pressures of a prestigious project. There they find that Jeevan’s parents are planning to sell their home to a Zenguera incorporates who are planning to buy the whole of the village to develop it into a global tourism venue. V illagers Kurup master, an young lady Vanitha and others are fiercely resisting Zenguaera who is buying each pieces of land to develop into plots for medical college, Ayurveda centre and cultural village. Nithin and Jeevan decide to stay in the village and fight against the land mafia.
We have already mentioned how pathetic the lead actors have acted in the film. Remya Nambeeshan as Vanitha however has done a good job. Jagathy Sreekumar as dance master Keluji and Nedumudi Venu as Kurup master are decent. Jagadheesh as Zenguaera doesn’t look villainous enough.
'Anthiponvettam' fails as an entertainer. The script by Dr Ramesh and Narayanan is clichés and looks unstructured. There are few good songs in the film by M Jayachandran.
