Over the year actor Dileep has come a long way so much so that today he is counted among the industry’s top actors. The actor who is now all set to make his big appearance in Blessy’s ‘Calcutta News’ is all gung-ho about it. This film will have the actor sport a new look with a chic hairstyle and thick frame. In this interview, Dileep talks about his latest film.
Excerpts from an Interview:
Calcutta News will see you sport a trendy look. How did you come to think of it?
Well, Ajith Thomas, my character in this film is a media journo who is born and brought up in Kolkata. We decided to go for a new look just to impart a touch of style, intellect and realism to my character.
How unlike is your character in this film from the ones you have played before?
One thing that sets my film apart from all my previous films is that it is exclusively shot at Kolkata. Beside my character has been handled in a different way altogether.
I play a very honest, down to earth guy in this film who happens to encounter some shocking incidents at one point. How he fields himself and his love against all odds forms the film.
Beside, technically too the film has made many advances.
Did you enjoy shooting for the film at Kolkata?
Yes, it was superb. Although at times, the climate posed as a problem nevertheless, I enjoyed the whole experience. I have been to the place earlier and I always seem to like it.
Share with us the experience of working with Blessy.
Well, I have known Blessy since ‘Sallapam’. During those days he used to be an assistant director. Blessy and I share a great rapport. He is an extremely diligent director who exactly knows what he wants from his actors.
The best thing about Calcutta News is its visual grandeur. I’m sure the film will milk in lot of appreciations for its superb cinematography. I’m anxious for its release.
After dabbling with a serious side of yours in Calcutta Mail, you are all set to kick off with comedy now.
Yes, and I’m really looking forward to it. The last time I shared the floor with Rafi-Mecartin and Rajasenan was in Pandippada and Darling Darling respectively. I’m really excited to join them again for ‘Romeo’ now.
Which are your other upcoming films?
Well, I’m doing Lal Jose’s ‘Mulla’. Then I‘ll be seen in director Siddique’s next. Also I’m a part of the ambitiously grand affair Twenty: 20’.
