'Taare Zameen Par' is an exclusive project that mainly spins around little minds bogged down by the incessant demands of life.

Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary), an eight-year old boy is mired by the constant nagging to outshine in his class. But this little chap has better things to do then spend his life raising his grades, at least this is what he thinks. Kites, fishes, shiny objects, flying saucers and ice golas engross his mind more than his school lessons.

After receiving bouts of complaints from his school and teachers, his father, Nandkishore Awasthi (Vipin Sharma) ultimately decides to port him to a boarding school. His mom, Maya (Tisca Chopra) too agrees to it believing that at least this could be of some help to her dear son.

But things prove to be pretty much hard for Ishaan who simply can’t seem to bear the pain of being parted from his home. He is always nagged by wistfulness accompanied by other woes.

Instead of improving, things continue to worsen for Ishaan at the boarding school until one art teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh happens to come along. His creative ideas and zest and zing impress the entire class except Ishaan that makes Nikumbh curious about the child’s psychology.

After getting to the nerves of the matter, Nikumbh ultimately decides to breathe in some happiness into little Ishaan’s life and make it more colorful for him as he always dreams it to be.
