Sudhir Mishra classic tale of love ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ breathes heavy on the era’s magical world, talented people, their outsized egos, beautiful and ugly individuals and the enticing bait of stardom.

‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ is the chaotic love account of an actress Nikhat (Soha Ali Khan), and a writer- directer, Zafar (Shiney Ahuja) grounded in the magical era of the fifties. This film is more or less is homage to that Golden era.

This enticing golden era forms the milieu for the story of Nikhat who goes to become a superstar from a mere extra in the film and Zafar, who reflects all coup and controversies of a writer-director of that age. The painful situation of two lovers who can neither live with nor live without each other is beautifully canned here. Although the film trails on the 50’s era, yet the touch is very contemporary.

This riotous periodic love drama comes alive with stupendous acting handouts from actors like Shiney Ahuja, Soha Ali Khan, Sonya Jehan, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Sushmita Mukherjee and Dipannita Sharma who in their assorted roles craft a multihued backdrop of the film industry – from overwhelming superstars and lively studio-owners to stylish divas with shameful stories, this film shows it all and more.
