Movie Review : Inteha

Producer: Mukesh Bhatt
Director: Vikram Bhatt
Cast: Ashmit Patel, Nauheed Cyrusi, Vidya Malavade
Music: Anu Malik

‘Inteha’ is a suspense thriller from the house of Bhatts directed by Vikram Bhatt. The high point of the film is the strong detailing that a film of such genre demands but it’s the loopholes in the plot, predictable screenplay and the shoddy climax that mars all efforts.

There are three main characters in the film, Tina (Nauheed Cyrusi) a spoilt rich girl, her elder stepsister Nandini (Vidya Mallavde) and Ranbir (Ashmit Patel) who has plans to build a 7-star hotel at the hill station. There is a rift between Tina and Nandini and Tina cannot stand her. But Vidya loves her sister and has left her lover (Anup Soni) to take care of her and fulfill her promises that she made to her dying father. But the fissure between them is ever widening. This is when Ranbir comes to their lives.

Tina and Ranbir get attracted to each other and Nandini also soon accepts their friendship. But she has some hesitation to get them married without checking on the background of the boy. Though she warns Ranbir from meeting her sister, he continues to get closer to her. Soon Ranbir’s game is to be shattered when one night a man surfaces and threatens him that he knows his intention and will tell all about it. But this guy gets murdered. Nandini’s suspicion grows strong. This leads to the climax.

The story begins in an interesting and absorbing manner. Suspense about Ranbir keeps the film going. But the ups and down and the predictable screenplay soon dampens the proceedings. Blame it on writer Mahesh Bhatt. Director Vikram Bhatt exhibits good talent and extract fine performance from the new star cast. But he doesn’t go far to impress due to the bland screenplay. Reasonability is also what the script demands and the climax is also far from convincing.

To this bad proceeding Anu Malik’s music acts as a blow. Cinematography by Pravin Bhatt stands out while Girish Dhamija’s dialogue has a mixed effect. Ashmit Patel does a fair job in his first film. But his screen presence is not up to mark and he will have to groom himself in that regard. He should take care of his make up and styling too. Nauheed Cyrusi is improving, that’s all we can say. Vidya Mallavde impresses.

The film is a missed bag of positives and negatives. At the box office it might be difficult for it to go steady taking care of the competition and below average production quality.
