After rocking the entire nation with his groovy and funky tunes, Pritam is set to ravish all over again with his musical innings in the Shahid-Kareena starrer ‘Jab We Met’. The soundtrack oozes with promise with Irshad Kamil writing down the lyrics. Imtiaz Ali takes the director’s seat for this film produced by Dhilin Mehta. With ace musician like Pritam working out the music, there are bound to be high expectations and quite agreeably the musician doesn’t disappoints either.

The track just blows off with ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’ a ravishing track loaded with nightclub feel. Sung with full zest and zing by Mika, this zany track is sure to get all toes moving. Pritam adds just the perfect punch of uplifting bhangra beats and Punjabi-Western arrangements to elevate this fun filled disco track. Even the remix edition that appears somewhere towards the end of the album is equally charged up with funky beats and makes for a good rock-n-roll track.

The album alters its route with ‘Tum Se Hi’ a very pleasing and rich piece of melody. This track runs down the ear like a smooth gush of wine. Rendered in the silky smooth voice of Mohit Chauhan of Silk Route fame, this soft and hummable track has poetic verses by lyricist Irshad Kamil. This is definitely one of Pritam’s best track in the recent years and is a must hear for all melody freaks.

The remix edition of this free flowing track may raise eyebrows initially but as we sail through the song, we leave our misgivings behind since the remix version contains just an extra flicker that further accentuates the melody instead of blowing it out. A well-handled track indeed!

‘Yeh Ishq Hai’ is yet another sweet, peppy and hummable number to queue up and is sung by Shreya Ghoshal who pulls off this track with great ease. This song captures the flavor of country music mixed with contemporary arrangements that offers a very interesting look. Even the digital sound adds to its charm. The remix version uses western arrangements for a change but that does not rob away anything from it but instead adds to its fun feel.

We get a taste of yet another zingy number in the form of ‘Nagada Nagada’ high on beats and energy. Sonu Nigam playbacks for this track with full delight. The high-pitched drum thumps sets the celebration mood that will get the listeners rocking instantaneously. This song is surely a novel attempt on Pritam’s part.

‘Aao Milo Chalo’ is a mushy song that gives the feeling of a budding love tale between two young hearts. This namby-pamby track gets Shaan crooning for it with soft instruments adding to its mushiness. A saccharine soaked song, this is one of Pritam’s best-done number in the album. But there is a surprise element thrown into it in the form of Ustad Sultan Khan who makes a brief appearance for an ‘alaap’. An ear pleasing number to look forward to.

Guest composer Sandesh Shandilya steps in with ‘Aaoge Jab Tum’ an out and out lounge track with a classical feel to it. Rendered beautifully by Ustad Rashid Khan, this soulful song is certain to evoke your musical senses to great heights. Lyrics by Irshad Kamil are equally stirring. Encumbered with a vintage charm this track is surely a musician’s delight.

The ‘Theme Music’, which turns up in the end, is a handsome piece of melody. Kudos to the musician for tuning up such a great piece of melody that smells of orient aroma. The oriental flute notes together with mind-blowing refrain and a widespread orchestra generates a splendid impact. A good piece to wind up with.

The soundtrack of ‘Jab We Met’ simply spells brilliance. Pritam conjures up a potpourri of melodies that will cater to all segments of music lovers. The music of this film certainly can be seen as another gem in the musician’s grand crown. A must listen album of the year indeed.
