Audio Review : Indian Babu - Unexciting Music

Producer: Surjit S. Pandher

A decade after the success of ‘Saajan’ the same team is coming together again for a new movie ‘Indian Babu’. We are talking about Lawrence D’Souza, Nadeem-Shravan and Sameer. This movie produced by Surjit.S.Pandher introduces two new actors, Jaz Pandher and Gurline Chopra. Musically there is a lot of expectation from this movie. Let us find out how this one fares.

This album begins with a sweet and soft romantic number ‘Dil Mera Dil’. It reminds you of Nadeem-Shravan’s golden era. Kumar Sanu lends his voice to this melodious track. This nicely choreographed song boasts of a wonderful picturisation.

‘Rabba Re Rabba’ wakes you up from your dreamy world. This bhangra/rap fusion fails to create any impression on the audience. Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik and Kunal Ganjanwala try to infuse life into this dead track. But there is nothing they can do about it.

Next track ‘Aap Humse Pyaar Karne Laga Hai’ is a plain ordinary romantic track crooned by Kumar Shanu and Alka Yagnik. It is a cakewalk for these seasoned vocalists as they have crooned uncountable number of such genres in their long spanning musical career.

At this juncture Nadeem-Shravan comes up with another folk based track ‘Mere Sang Sang Naach’. Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik croon this garba number. Unfortunately this dance number lacks enthusiasm and vigor.

By now the music director duo might have realized that this album is not taking them anywhere. So in their fanatic attempt to give it a certain punch they come up with a Goan piece of music. Fortunately this attempt gives them the needed result. ‘I Wanna Take You Higher’ excites you with its calypso beats and energetic rendition. KK is the man who breathes life in to this track.

Again back to the usual bollywood ‘nach gaana’ style. ‘Aaya Dulha Aaya’ as the title suggests is a wedding song. Kumar Shanu, Sarika Kapoor and Nirja Pandit lend their voice to this number. There is nothing special about this track.

This uninteresting album ends with another unexciting song ‘Hum Deewane Hai Tumhare’. Qawali specialists Sabri Brothers join Jaspinder Narula for the rendition. It is repeated twice in this album. Overall another ordinary track that has a very short life.

Inshort, Nadeem-Shravan have tried their best to give variety to this album. With that in mind they have included bhangra, garba, Goan song and qawali along with some of the enjoyable romantic melodies. But yet they have failed to come up with an interesting musical composition. Overall this turns out to be a forgettable album.
