Set on the banks of the river Ganga in the holy capital of Banaras, the script mainly trails around the lives of two fun loving endearing sisters- Badki (Rani Mukerjee) and Chutki (Konkona Sen Sharma), who live a happy and carefree life playing pranks and doing mischief all day long.  Badki is well aware of the bleak situation that her family is succumbing but she and her mother (Jaya Bachchan) tries hard to keep Chutki in dark about the ongoing family crisis. When things go entirely out of hand, Badki decides to go to Mumbai to fend a living for her family. Unaided and unaware of the dark and dreary ways of this city, Badki has to struggle with malicious forces to keep the fire burning in her kitchen and also support her sister’s education. She ultimately trades her innocence for bread and butter.

Badki willingly transmutes into a different entity, dwelling a life of murky compromises. After her education, Chutki comes to Mumbai to pursue a career. There she stumbles upon success and the love of her life. Meanwhile Badki has a hard time trying to conceal her dire lifestyle. Badki too was visited by love sometimes back in her life but she simply allowed it to slip away as she believed it was not destined for her. She combats against all risk and blackmail alone, not leasing the dim shade cloud over Chutki or her family.

But as fate would have it, Badki’s naked truth comes to the surface before all and many world are blown apart in an instant. Will Badki ever get out of this dim life and be happy? Will Chutki’s innocence be shattered by all these truths? Will her family support her actions? To find an answer to all these questions don’t forget to queue up before the booking counters this October 12.
