Dil Dosti Etc. is basically a present day film that deals and highlights the blurriness and fixation of today’s youth and aims to give a fresh and brazen view of how today’s young males think and spent their lives. Directed by Manish Tiwary and produced by Prakash Jha, this isn’t just another run of the mill flick.
The film mainly hovers around the young students in Delhi University chiefly Apurv (Imaad Shah), an affluent sophisticated lad and Sanjay Mishra (Shreyas Talpade) a conservative guy from Bihar. This film apposes the modern noninterventionist with the out of date orthodox in our society.
Apurv is a an aimless young man who tries to find out the real purpose of his life by engaging in many erotic gags with various girls while Sanjay is a go-getter young lad who is actively into campus politics. He embodies a romantic idealist who unfalteringly follows his political aspirations.
The female leads mainly support the social and emotional strings of the flick. Vaisali (Smriti Mishra) is a glib-tongued whore who is cautious enough never to lose her heart to her clients. Kintu (Ishitta Sharrma) is a talented schoolgirl who flirtatiously remains evasive to Apurv’s dalliance. Prerna (Nikita Anand) is a rich glam doll from south Delhi who wants to make it up to the international ramps but is completely smitten by student-politician Sanjay’s down to earth demeanor.
This film employs a collage of characters, anecdotes and premises to survey the nature of camaraderie, male bonding, love, deceit, sexual escapades and many more. This film is based on genuine script and is goaded with real depictions and black humor. On a broader level, the film deals with the catastrophe faced by an entire generation.
