‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ is Bollywood’s take on the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Chandramukhi’ which casts Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Amisha Patel in pivotal leads. This film wears a comic shadow under Priyadarshan, which is altogether different from the original caper. Priyadarshan frequents his current favourite Pritam to compose for the audio that has lyrics by Sameer.
The album unwinds with the title song ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ doled out by Neeraj Sridhar of Bombay Vikings fame. This track brings in an exclusive and novel mix of spiritual, mischief and a frisky flavor. Sameer induces English words into this track while an extremely beguiling chorus makes it simply irresistible. The remix edition is wholly wacky and equally infectious.
‘Labon Ko’ is an outright winner with its slight Sufi rock hues that gets on your lips in no time. Pritam unfailingly leaves his stamp in this KK rendered song. The song sails in a moderate pace and brings in something new for the music fanatics. The remix version is another add-on in the long list of Pritam’s hit especially with its clubhouse feel.
‘Lets Rock Soniye’ is a celebration song crooned out by Shaan and Tulsi Kumar who are outstandingly good especially Shaan. This song is sure to make its way into the list of chartbusters. The 'remix version' has a dhol effect to it that makes it a DJ’s favorite for all occasions.
‘Sakhiya’ a purely melody based number is Tulsi Kumar’s solo take here. This song takes the listeners down the memory lane and reminds one of Anuradha Paudwal. Pritam tries to add peppy beats to add spark to this melodious symphony that carries a vintage feel to it.
‘Mere Dholna’ is a classical based track that goes well with one of the film’s sequence. This 7 minutes track has M.G. Sreekumar doling out alaap and taal in the background while Shreya Ghoshal hums out the lyrics. Although this song does not contribute to enhance the entertainment quotient of the flick, it is nevertheless pleasing.
‘Allah Hafiz’ quite contrary to its name is a lively and youthful number rendered by KK. This track makes for an enjoyable musical outing as it is inflected with Akshay’s dynamic zest and zing.
‘Sajda’ is another sprightly KK number. This track has a campus feel and is like all other tracks, easy on the lips. Even the remix version is intoxicating.
After the recent bad taste of music, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ definitely comes as a respite. With a number of catchy impressive songs to boast of, the musical album is sure to go places.
