Producer: Ashwini Dutt Director: Puri Jagannath Cast: Ram Charan Teja, Neha Music: Manisharma
The most eagerly awaited release of the season ‘Chirutha’ which marks the debut of super star’s son Ram Charan Teja is already out for the audience. Directed by one of industry’s most nifty director Puri Jagannath, this much-hyped flick also starring Neha Sharma sadly fails to live up to its grand expectations. Instead of paying heed to the progress of the story, the director chooses to concentrate more on conceding his stars a lustrous image. And that's why the film tosses out to be an all fun and no play affair. Charan (Ram Charan) is a juvenile delinquent who comes out of the cell after twelve long years to avenge for his father’s (Surya) death who was killed by a crook (Asish Vidyarthi). After coming out, he learns that his mother too is no longer alive. Meanwhile his young heart also starts throbbing for Sanjana (Neha Sharma), daughter of a rich man Karthikeyan (Prakash Raj).
Charan manages to get a passport for himself with the help of a cop and flies off to Bangkok to start his life afresh. There he lands up on a job with a travel agency. In the mean time, Sanjana together with her friends turn up in Bangkok as a vacationer where Charan is her guide. While on an outing a guy rags Sanjana and Charan comes to her rescue. Later the lovers run off to a deserted island in Bangkok.
Their Charan proposes to Sanjana and also tells her about his prime mission. The killer has now risen to become an international crook and the guy stalking Sanjana is no other than his son.
In the mean time, the duo faces opposition from the girl’s father who is hell bent to part the two. Meanwhile, Charan’s mother also comes alive. How the young hero wins his love, avenges for his father’s death and unites with his forsaken mother forms the rest of the tale.
Talking about the performances Ram Charan Tej is good in his first attempt. He is commendable in dance and action sequences. As regards acting, this young talent has miles to go. Neha Sharma mainly supports the film as eye candy and sizzles in her glamorous role. Ashish Vidyarthi is simply taxing while Prakash Raj's role is derisory and scantily imprinted. Sayaji Shinde emerges in an unremarkable role of a police officer.
The rest of the star cast includes Ali, Brahmanandam, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, MS Narayana, Babloo and Uttej.
Manisharma’s music is striking and adds to the films advantage. But regular popping out of the songs after every few minutes hinders the film’s interest. Stunts by Vijayan is remarkable and even the cinematography is impressive. On the whole, a sleek film that lacks substance.
