Ouseppachan though lately accused of bootlegging, is one of the most dexterous musicians of the present era. His next musical offering is Shyamaprasad's latest Mammootty starrer ‘Ore Kadal’ with lyrics by Gireesh Puthencherry. All the tracks in this flick are based on Subha Panthuvarali raga.
This album unbolts with ‘Manassinte’, a pacy track rendered by G Venugopal in an altogether unusual tenor. The interludes are wadded with fiddle strings while the musical ensemble is done with great style.
‘Yamuna’ is a feel good track rendered superbly by Shwetha. Ouseppachan again repeats the number. The song breathes of a fresh unsophisticated feel that very well goes with the pulse of the flick.
Follows ‘Nagaram’, which oozes with soulful feelings. Vineeth Sreenivasan sings out the exceptionally beautiful lines penned down by Gireesh. This track is tinged with philosophical ideas that make for an interesting hearing.
‘Pranyasandhya’ is a moving song rendered by Bombay Jayashree who spills out- “The best song I have sung in recent times, this is a poignant melody. It haunted me for days. I even cancelled some of my engagements while recording to remain immersed in the mood of the raga”. These few words from the brilliant singer say it all about this mellifluous song.
Lastly follows the title track ‘Oru kadalai’ rendered in a very singular fashion by Naveen Nair.
The music arranger has tried to put his best feet forward with the soundtrack. All the songs gushes out like a fresh stream overflowing with melody and grace. The overall experience is very novel that deeply settles in the bottom of our hearts. The music is all the more uplifting and unbending. In nutshell, outstanding music!
